Firefighter in Sweden
Hi,
I am currently working full time at a nuclear powerplant as a Liutenant in the Firedepartment here in Sweden, as well as being on call for the State Firedepartment. I am planing on moving back home to Burlington next year and was wondering, how hard is it and is it a plus being a schooled firefighter from a foreign country trying to join the firedepartments in Canada?
Best of Regards
Mark

It will ultimately come down to the Fire Department whether they will recognize your fire experience or not. At the very least you may have to challenge the Ontario Fire Marshals exams... just to prove you are up to Ontario's standards. Do you have Canadian citizenship? You should contact a couple of Fire Departments you wish to get hired on and ask them what they think. I would remain anonymous at this point while your collecting information.
